Caring for you as we would for ourselves

Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine is a branch of medicine and medical imaging that uses low doses of radioactive substances to take images and examine the physiological processes in diseases, such as cancer, infections, heart attacks and even fractures.

Nuclear medicine scans provide additional information, alongside other imaging techniques, such as X-rays and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and ultrasound scans, which is essential in helping our doctors to establish an accurate diagnosis and deliver the best treatment options to patients.

Depending on whether alpha, beta or gamma radiation is used, medical imaging or metabolic radiation therapy can be performed by our specialist team.

Our services

We are proud to provide state-of-the-art services, which are in line with current scientific expertise, in a warm and caring environment equipped with the latest technology.

Due to the development of innovative hybrid systems integrating a camera with a CT (computed tomography) scanner, nuclear medicine plays an increasingly important role in treating patients with serious chronic conditions, including:

  • cancer
  • angina
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Parkinson’s disease

Nuclear medicine may also be used for less serious medical conditions, including:

  • overactive thyroid, also known as hyperthyroidism
  • stress fractures
  • loose prostheses

State-of-the-art equipment

Innovative Vereos digital PET-CT technology from Philips

The Vereos digital PET-CT (in French) (positron emission tomography–computed tomography) scanner enables a personalized approach to diagnosis and treatment as it identifies disease-specific biomarkers using images. It is the ideal solution for quality issues that can occur when practicing highly-specialized medicine.

This cutting-edge system features a wide range of benefits, including:

  • enhanced precision of scans due to the highly-sensitive PET camera

  • information about the effectiveness of oncology treatments by observing changes in the behavior of cancer cells that have been treated (size and other criteria)

  • reduced radiopharmaceutical doses due to the highly-sensitive camera (the radioactive dose injected can be reduced by more than 30% while maintaining the same diagnostic image quality as previous PET cameras)

Innovative Discovery 670 CZT SPECT-CT technology from GE Healthcare

This SPECT-CT (single photon emission computed tomography–computed tomography) system features a digital gamma camera for simultaneous image acquisition:

  • three-dimensional scintigraphy (SPECT) - functional images
  • CT medical imaging - anatomical images

The combination of functional and anatomical information means that we can significantly enhance our diagnostic accuracy while increasing the specificity of our scans.
